My name is Nicole Ewert. I have a sweet, fun, loving, energetic, and hardworking sister, Heidi Ebert. All who know Heidi know that she has a heart of gold and is always there to help people around her. This is now the time in Heidi's life where she needs to be the receiver of love, support, and encouragement, as she has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer.
She noticed a lump on the right side of her neck 7 months ago. She went in to get it checked out. She was told that her lymph nodes were swollen from her recent case of strep throat and may not go down for another 3 months. Heidi decided to go back into the doctor’s office on Friday, September 30 to figure out why the lump was still swollen after 7 months. The doctor recommended to have a CT scan performed. Heidi received the CT scan results on Tuesday, October 4. She was shocked when she was told that her test results were not good and that they were concerned about the possibility of cancer. Heidi went on to meet with a specialist on Thursday, October 6 of that same week. She found out that the lump needed to be removed and the sooner the better... Heidi found herself going into surgery, for the first time ever, the very next day on Friday, October 7. The surgery went as planned and they were able to get the biopsy started. Almost a week of waiting for the results, she got the call that she indeed had cancer...Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer.
CANCER is something no one wants to hear they have and 20 year old Heidi has now heard she has it. With that said, there were many unanswered questions: What's the treatment? Where else has the cancer spread? What stage? You can imagine all the worrisome thoughts that cross your mind when hearing this news.
It has now been 2 weeks since she was diagnosed with cancer. Heidi will go through various testing on Wednesday, October 26 to determine more information concerning the cancer and stage she is at. Heidi has surgery scheduled on Friday, October 28 to get a port put in her body. Heidi starts Chemotherapy on Tuesday, November 1 and will continue the 3 hour Chemo treatments every other week for the next 6 months.
Heidi has a road ahead of her. I ask that we can all come together to help out my sister financially during this stressful and scary time in her life. My hope is that we can raise money for Heidi to pay off the large amount of medical bills she will receive and be able to help pay some monthly bills that she has already.
Heidi is not one to ask for help, so that is why I am creating this, but I know she is deeply appreciative and grateful for all that people have and will do for her during this trying time.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation!!!!
