Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, the devastation in Western North Carolina is overwhelming. The impact is catastrophic, and the damage is far beyond what anyone could have imagined. So many families are in need, and every contribution is deeply appreciated, no matter whom you choose to support.
If you feel moved to help Corey’s immediate family, both his parents' and his brother’s homes have suffered severe damage from the flooding. We are incredibly grateful that they are safe, but the road to recovery is daunting. Both houses were outside the 500-year floodplain; therefore, they did not have flood insurance. This has added a significant financial burden on top of the emotional toll.
I want to be very clear in stating that these are their primary and only residences. When I say they poured everything into these homes financially—including Corey’s parents, who are elderly and on a fixed income—that is truly the case. There is no backup plan for this, and it is not just about rebuilding houses; this is their livelihood and their lives.
The funds raised will go directly toward rebuilding their homes to make them livable again. They have lost many possessions, as well as all electrical systems and heating/cooling units. The entire first floors of both houses need to be gutted and rebuilt, and there is still uncertainty about the roof and other structural damage.
Any donation, no matter the size, will make a world of difference to Corey’s family and to us. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and support during this challenging time. Thank you for standing with us.
With gratitude,
Corey & Jessie
