This is my cousin Karen and her family. They have been displaced by the Woolsey Fire in Southern California. The picture behind them is what is left of their community.

We were relieved when we heard that their home was one of the only homes in their community to remain standing. Little did we know that this would mean that their insurance company would be telling them now that they should just return home and that they would not provide any assistance. For those of you who have never seen the damage that a fire of this magnitude causes, the fumes and smoke damage left in its wake are extremely dangerous. The county and state dept of health have all declared their home unsafe to return to especially with two young children. They have taken up temporary residence in a hotel and will remain there until it is safe to return home.
