Heith Durrence - Unexpected Tragedy

Heith Durrence, age 45, died at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA, on Sunday, June 9, 2019.  After 17 days of courageously fighting a traumatic brain injury from a concussion-related fall, Heith ended up in an irreversible vegetative state. He would never have wanted to live that way, so life support was removed, and he peacefully passed away in his wife, Candice’s, arms.  In his final moment of generosity, Heith was a super hero by donating his organs to save others.

Heith was a devoted and loving husband, and humble friend.  He met his soul mate and best friend, Candice, at Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, where they fell in love with their heart, mind, body and soul (HMBS).  They would have been celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary on September 26, 2019. 

Candice’s best friends recommended a GoFundMe web site to lessen the financial burden of Heith’s unexpected death, including medical expenses and memorial services.  Unfortunately, Heith did not have life insurance.  Any way that you can help honor this amazing man that we all loved and respected will be greatly appreciated.

We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from everyone. Although no amount of money will ever ease the loss of one’s spouse, we hope that Candice is comforted by the fact that so many people love her and are praying for her during this difficult time.
