Help Carl Detwiler with medical bills
Hi my name is Carol Detwiler and I am asking for help with medical bills and expenses to get treatment for my husband Carl. He lives with chronic back pain and has been since 1986. He suffers from Arachnoiditis (severe nerve damage). He has been in the hospital 13 times since January 2021 due to Severe UTI Ecoli infections, sepsis, cellulitis, MRSA, and pneumonia. He has just recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer and esophageal spasm which does not allow him to swallow foods. In March he had a PEG tube put in, in order for him to be able to get nutrients to his body to survive. He also has a PIC line in his arm for IV antibiotics to help with the UTI infections which is not working at this moment in time. We are asking for help so we can receive treatment at UAB to hopefully help solve or find a path for a solution for treatment seeming as all they can do here has been done for him which has not helped yet. His first appt at UAB is on the 26th of August which will be an innitial visit to find a game plan. Currently we are living off of his disability that he receives from SSD which is only $819 a month and will not allow us to seek treatment without help. The money raised will go to travel expenses to UAB for treatment, dr appt fees, medical bills, and rental vehicle to get there. There is no telling as of now how many trips this will take for him to receive treatment and anything anyone can do will be greatly appreciated so we can receive treatment for my husband. My family and I are asking for all your prayers and your help if able to so we can get to UAB to get the help that he so dearly needs. Our children and grandchildren want their Cappy to get better so he can come to their ball games and school events and watch them play.
Cappy(Carl) would also like to be able to get back to playing baseball with his grandchildren, playing the guitar, and just enjoying life a little. He enjoys watching Supernatural which is his favorite TV series. The time he does get to spend with his family is spent with great enjoyment and his grandchildren love it dearly. They long for much more time than he is able to give however. He is a loving husband , father and grandfather.
We will post updates as soon as we have them to keep everyone in the loop of what treatment is needed and how he is doing. We greatly appreciate anything that is able to be done.
