Your Coffee is on Me, Helen B. Longao Scholarship
Honoring the Memory of Helen Biado-Longao Helmlinger
In the luminous wake of Helen Biado-Longao Helmlinger's journey through life, we find ourselves gathered to continue her legacy of kindness, joy, and boundless love. Helen, who left us on November 28, 2023, at the age of 52, was a beacon of warmth and selflessness. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Helen's life was a rich tapestry of care, adventure, and a deep commitment to helping others.
Helen's early years were marked by responsibility and leadership, as she took on the role of Mommy's Little Helper and navigated the complex dynamics of sisterhood with Carin and Ann. Her high school days at President William McKinley High School were filled with music and friendship, and her early career path, from the Crackseed Store to the Disney Store, reflected her dedication to customer service and her love for creating smiles.
Her academic journey led her to a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Hawaii Pacific University. Helen's passion for travel took her across the globe, enriching her life with experiences and friendships. Professionally, Helen dedicated herself to the realm of financial aid, eventually becoming the Director of Scholarships at John A. Burns School of Medicine, UH Manoa. Her work was not just a job; it was a manifestation of her desire to help others realize their dreams.
Helen's personal life was a story of love and laughter, culminating in her marriage to Aaron Helmlinger. Their unique love story and deep affection for each other stood as a testament to her belief in the power of love and commitment.
As we remember Helen, we not only recall her roles as a nurturing aunt, a supportive wife, and a best friend, but also her endless capacity for caring, her contagious laughter, and her boundless love for life.
To honor Helen's memory and her lifelong commitment to helping others, we are establishing the "Your Coffee is on Me, Helen B. Longao Scholarship." This scholarship aims to provide financial support to students at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii, specifically aiding those with the most student loans and the least scholarships.
Our Goal:
We aim to raise $25,000, with an annual scholarship award of $1,000 to one deserving student. This scholarship is more than financial aid; it's a continuation of Helen's legacy, a beacon of hope and support in her name.
Join Us:
In contributing to this scholarship, you're not just donating money; you're fueling dreams, supporting futures, and keeping Helen's spirit of generosity and love alive. Every contribution, big or small, makes a significant difference.
Celebration of Life:
We invite you to join us in celebrating Helen's life on February 24th at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe, Hawaii starting at 10 am. This celebration will be a reflection of her vibrant spirit, and a gathering of all those whose lives she touched.
Helen's journey through this world was indeed a gift to us all. Let's come together to ensure her legacy of love and care lives on through the "Your Coffee is on Me, Helen B. Longao Scholarship."
