Helene Relief for Appalachian State University and Boone, NC

My name is Carson Criswell and I am an alumnae of Appalachian State University and Alpha Phi Theta Nu and currently serve as an advisor of the chapter. I have many connections with this school, this town, and many people who are residents as I know a lot of us do. It is time to come together as a community and help one another.

Appalachian State University in Boone, NC along with many other citizens, friends, family, and neighbors have been hit by an extremely powerful hurricane with effects similar to Katrina. There are people and entire towns that have been taken away by this storm, leaving no power, no running water, no gas, no cell service, and limited entry for personnel to come and assist - a lot of places only accessible by air ship. Families are stranded in, on top of, or under their homes and are running out of necessities to stay alive due to the lack of accessibility to resources. With a natural event of this magnitude, a lot of the damage is yet to be discovered. We encourage everyone around the country to please do your own research to see just how horrific this is for not only Western NC, but for a lot of the South as news coverage has not been as apparent as it should in an event like this.
