Helping My Dad
Donation protected
My name is Harrison Wild and I am trying to raise these funds to help my Dad.
This week my dad received a debt collection order of £640,000 out of the blue. We thought this must be a mistake... but after research it looks like it's true.
I'll need to explain a few points first:
Around 15 years ago my Grandmother passed away suddenly and was found by my father.
A family friend and financial advisor stepped in to help sell my Dads childhood home. And after selling the house he'd loved growing up in and dividing the money to his siblings and family my father decided, at the advice of the financial advisor, to invest the remaining £30k he had left into a property for retirement. Many others we knew were becoming involved in the property scheme that entailed gaining a mortgage from Alpha Bank via the building firm to construct the properties that would be paid off through the mortgage. Seems normal, seems legit, the building firm was ready to go and hundreds of people had invested.
Years passed and the progress of the properties all seemed to be going ahead... until my father received a letter in dispute that work had suddenly halted. The firm needed more money and after reaching back out to his financial advisor it was confirmed to be legit so my father and many other invested parties paid the extra money. A few months later another letter... and then another letter...
This continued for so long my father on a small salary as a bus driver cut the property loose. He'd lost his only savings for retirement and investment.
That was around 10 years ago. Thinking the worst had passed my dad resigned to the fact that he would just work to retirement and settle with what comes after. Then this week we received another letter claiming that Alpha Bank has sold the debt of £640,000 to a debt collection firm in the United Kingdom. Shocked I delved into the internet to find out what is going on.
From what I have found around 250 people are being targeted by collection firms because of Alpha Bank. It turns out not only was the property NEVER EVEN STARTED but the "mortgage" my father was sold to cover the property was nothing but a bank loan supplied from Alpha Bank to the building firm Alpha Panareti (allegedly there's no connection between the two firms but I highly doubt it). A large bank loan that Alpha Panareti took out in my fathers name and ran with. When attempting to reach out to the family friend and financial advisor we have since found he's lost his license to trade and the three properties he' d purchased we're also in dispute.
This week I found that a local law firm called Judicare is attempting to help the 250 other people deal with the debt that has been loaded onto them for something that was beyond their control, however after speaking to them ourselves it seems that my dad will still be required to pay a large some of money to cover legal costs and at least a portion of the debt. Because Alpha Panareti had taken a "mortgage" that was actually a loan this means that the bank did not foreclose when the project halted. And with this debt they can now come after our home in the UK. The home that my Dad, my brother and I all live in. We are saving all we can to cover this but we cannot do this without some help.
This brings us to today. For the past two hours my dad has been on the phone seeking free legal advice and I want to do all I can to help him.
If you can help us in any way, please do.
