Help 10 year old Bradley beat leukemia
Donation protected
On November 17th, 10 year old Bradley Barrett was diagnosed with leukemia.
Thanks to an attentive pediatrician, Bradley is now in the capable hands of Children's Hospital, receiving the medical care and treatment he needs to defeat the cancer. With the latest treatments and a knowledgeable, capable team of healthcare providers, Bradley has a good shot at beating cancer and enjoying the adulthood he deserves.
Bradley is not the only person who needs support right now. And leukemia is not the only challenge.
Modern treatments are effective, but they're also expensive. Hospital stays can cost thousands of dollars just for the bed and room. Bradley's mom, Karra, is not only facing the life-changing shock of learning her son has leukemia; it is a cruel injustice that she's also staring down the barrel of almost unfathomable expenses as a result.
I've known Karra for almost 20 years. She is a fierce, brilliant, capable, and compassionate woman, an incredible single mom to Bradley, and a genuine delight to spend time with. She has overcome some incredible challenges already.
I have no doubt that she will face this with her usual strength.
It is my intention to ensure she does not face it alone.
I know that it's not always easy to find extra dollars to chip in for a fundraiser. Life is already expensive for all of us.
What I do want to add, though, is that a fundraiser like this is not just about raising money to pay for lifesaving care for a child.
It is also about being there for people who need it, when they need it most.
Imagine for a moment that your child, or your sibling, or your best friend was diagnosed with cancer and counting on you, and you alone, to care for them and cover the expense. Imagine the pressure. Imagine the fear. Imagine the sheer weight of that responsibility descending on you out of the blue.
Then imagine what it would feel like to discover ten, or fifty, or hundreds of people cared enough to help lift that burden together with you.
There are few feelings as powerful and righteous as learning that you are not alone.
Maybe you can only afford 20 dollars, maybe even five dollars would be a hardship for you. If you can give even $1, that matters.
Help show Karra she's not alone.
Help give Bradley the full, long life he deserves.
Help fight cancer the same way all the most successful fights are won: together.
Every cent of this fundraiser will be transferred to Karra and Bradley to help them offset the costs of medical care and treatment.
