Help 14-Year-Old Sophia Get Urgent Medical Care
Donation protected
Last week, I read a post in the Facebook Jackson Heights Parents group that stirred me. A Woodside mother, Catherine Tavolacci, asked urgently for parents to pray for her daughter Sophia, who has just spent three weeks in the ICU at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital as a result of Diabetic Ketoacidosis. Sophia is a vibrant fourteen-year-old who loves painting, singing, and doing Legos. She has a passion for baking and a cookbook collection to prove it! As mom Catherine explained, one day, Sophia seemed fine, and the next she was sedated, on dialysis, and on a ventilator. Sophia’s medical condition is taking a deep emotional toll on her parents and 3 siblings, and there’s a financial toll too. She requires treatments, tests, and therapies that are not covered by her health insurance. For example, just one of her hyperbaric oxygen treatments costs $10,000. Also, the hospital has just recommended an assistance dog, which on average can cost up to $20,000. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them. The Tavolacci family is devoted to providing Sophia all of the medical care she requires, and greatly appreciates any donations you can make, however small. Thanks for your kind consideration.
