Help 18 year old Michael Patterson beat Cancer
My little brother, Michael Patterson is 18 years old. He just graduated high school, and planned to attend College in September 2019, until he recently got diagnosed with an aggressive Cancer.
Michael was diagnosed in Belleville with Diffuse Large B cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Update - As of Oct 2019 Michael has had many tests/ biopsy and a new diagnosis from a team of Drs from Mount Sinai in Toronto of Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. This is a Blood type cancer - stage 4 . The cancer has spread to his right side of his body - shoulder ,femur and wrist as well as his bowels since and he is under care as they are worried about the tumour being in the bowel wall which will require emergency surgery.
If you ask anyone, Michael is the most kind-hearted, loving, helping individual. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone, and we are devastated that the purest, kindest person has been given this horrible diagnosis. To give you a bit of background on who Michael is, he is a skiing instructor at Batawa Ski hill that has helped hundreds of young kids and adults learn how to ski, he is a hard-worker that has gotten numerous promotions at McDonalds at a young age, he is an uncle to a niece, he is an amazing brother to his siblings, he is a kind and loving son, he is a caring and supportive friend to anyone he crosses paths with... he is so much good, and so much more than what I could ever explain on paper.
It breaks my heart that my little brother is going through this, no one deserves to go through Cancer, especially a young kid with a bright future ahead of him who was just about to get the chance to go to college. Michael made his own go fund me account when he found out he was diagnosed with cancer to support his family, which goes to show you how loving and caring Michael is. He shouldn't have to worry as an 18 year old kid how he's going to pay for his bills, and his medicine and travel expenses.
We will be travelling from Belleville, ON to Kingston for his chemotherapy, and to have his surgery. We have no family in Kingston , and we are a low income family, so it will be extremely difficult to afford this journey, but we will do anything Michael needs in order for him to get better and to fight this cancer. If we can get donations, we can help pay Michaels bills as he is unable to work, we will be able to travel to Kingston & Toronto for ongoing appointments and pay for our stay and food, we will be able to get Michael the medicine he needs to deal with the pain in his shoulder, we will be able to alleviate the stress on him and his family and focus on being positive and fighting this battle. It will also help with the monthly rent he has to pay from signing on a lease for school, but cannot live/attend due to his diagnosis.
We need all the support we can get as soon as possible in order to get Michael through this. We appreciate any thoughts or prayers, as well as any donations. Any little thing helps. Please share this and help us look after Michael and help us fight this monster so that Michael can go to College and grow up like a normal kid should.
PLEASE help us fight for Michael's future.
If you have any questions or support, please reach out to us.
THANK YOU,
Courttany Patterson.
A message from Michael:
Hello, I am Michael Patterson, 18 year old that was planning to go to college until I was diagnosed with a cancer in my right shoulder called Ewing Sarcoma (I need to get my shoulder completely replaced).
Update -
New Diagnosis as of Oct 2019- Diffuse large B Cell Lymphoma which has spread to the right side of my body and Bowels. I have had many tests and now chemo has started as of Oct 8/19. I have new health problems that I am trying to fight as well. It’s scary and I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemy.
This happened not too long after graduating highschool. I need money to be able to pay bills, pay for things for my family like hotel, food, accommodations and medications throughout this process. Its going to be a long road and any support will be great, I am currently getting into the chemo and I cannot work/I dont have any way to make money. I had lost a lot of money to college and residence as they keep everything that was paid for, since I found out so late near when school was suppose to start it really screwed things up. I am really kind hearted and Ive spent most of my working life teaching others, whether it be teaching kids how to ski, how to work or using opportunities in my life to try and help others. Anything helps and I appriciate anything that anyone can spare to help me and my family while I go through this very rough patch in my young life.
UPDATE:
We will be travelling to sick kids hospital during this COVID-19 pandemic. The oncologist gave him only a few weeks to live, but we are fighting and getting him into a trial to try to save his life...
We have been in the hospital for 2 weeks now because he can't keep anything down and he has beenthrowing up daily. We need all the prayers we can get right now, please pray for Michael.
