Help 3 BIPOC Womxn Stay in College
Donation protected
Since 2019 I've raised over $4,000 through business sales & crowdfunding to support womxn persisting through higher education. I'm raising $3,060 to award 3 BIPOC womxn with scholarships that will help them graduate college & cover GoFundMe fees. Learn more about our scholarship here.
My name is Destiny Saldívar. I'm a licensed social worker, coach, & founder of Caona Wellness. We're a social enterprise that helps people increase mindfulness & decrease stress to promote self-actualization using wellness education.
Though Caona Wellness focuses on self-care, we encourage community care through group workshops & fundraisers like this one! To date, we've raised over $6,000 for various wellness causes, both domestic and abroad. Read more about us here. Caona Wellness will be donating $500 to this scholarship!
Higher education is essential because I believe it changed my life as a first-generation low-income student. I've spent my entire career advocating for, supporting, and leading organizations that catapult BIPOC students into 4-year institutions.
So far, the 250+ students I've helped directly and indirectly through program management have been admitted and enrolled at four-year institutions. Unfortunately, the number who graduate is vastly different.
This year I hope to raise $3,000 to award THREE BIPOC womxn with $1,000 scholarships to help them persist through college. With varying degrees of mental health support on campus and policies that disproportionately affect students of color, our next generation needs us now more than ever.
Though small, a $1,000 scholarship can help with the following:
Tuition & fees
Books for classes
Special computer programs needed for classes
Transportation home for the holidays
Personal finances/bills so that students can focus on classes and not work (this helps with their GPA and makes them competitive applicants for graduate school)
Food when their meal plans run out
& more!
Our past scholarship recipients, Nathally Abreu, Makayla McDonald, Hannah Norberto, & Angelica Mangual-Cruz, have benefitted tremendously from this scholarship & are currently persisting at their institutions.
Caona Wellness LLC has committed $500 to the cause, but we need your help. November 29th is Giving Tuesday - please consider supporting our future scholarship recipients with the resources they need to make it through college!
If you have any questions about this scholarship or would like to offer support in another way, don't hesitate to contact me on Instagram @caonawellness. I also encourage you to find us on Instagram to learn more about last year's recipients & how their scholarships are helping them persist!
Thank you for being so helpful! May it be returned to you 10x fold. <3
