Help Mother, Newborn Niece and Family Survive War In Gaza

Donation protected
Hello kind-hearted friends and supporters,

I am reaching out to you with a plea for help save my sick mother and father, my three brothers, and my two sisters and their beautiful families, a total of 27 persons (11 adults and 16 children) from the devastating war in Gaza. Our goal is to provide them with the necessities to survive the war in Gaza till they exit to Egypt and do their visas to relocate to Canada. The escalating conflict has turned their once peaceful home into a constant battleground, filled with fear and uncertainty. I will start by sharing with you the story of my niece ‘baby girl Asiya’ who was born three days ago and living in a tent lacking all the necessities a baby needs to survive. My brother’s wife found out she was pregnant in the second week of October just right after the war started, and the baby is here now which makes it heart-breaking to realize how long this war lasted with people being deprived of what is a normal human life: a safe place, a shelter, and the basic needs of food, medication, and clean water. The mom and baby had to leave the hospital two hours after delivery to go back to their tent which is their home now. We need your help, so baby Asiya and the family’s other children’s unimaginable and unspeakable suffering stop.

My mother suffers from chronic heart disease and fatal hypertension and she needs immediate medical care and medication and healthy food. She is diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation and had two heart surgeries before. She was scheduled for another heart operation one week after the war started, but due to the ongoing conflict, her treatment has been severely disrupted. Your support can help provide her with the necessary medical care and medications she desperately needs. She also suffers from glaucoma which requires immediate medical intervention. My mother has been a teacher and a school principal for forty-two years and retired a few years ago. She has been very dedicated to her students and community, and she deserves a happy retirement after all these years of work, but now her retirement has ended in a tent where her life got disrupted and she is no longer able to take care of herself, family, and through this appeal, I am hoping you will help my mom have hope again in this life.

Their Journey of Survival
My family members, who once had happy lives and a stable source of income, have endured unimaginable hardships, losing their houses, sources of income, and everything they owned in life. Since the war began on October 7th my family has been forced to evacuate their homes in Beit Hanoun, North of Gaza. Over the past months, they have moved seven times, seeking safety and shelter amidst the war. Their journey took them from the northern Beit Hanoun town to Gaza City where they evacuated three times within Gaza City during the first month of the war, and then to Khan Younis, where they separated and stayed in different shelters at schools or in tents in the street. Here, they faced severe shortages of necessities like food, clean water, and sanitation, sleeping on cold floors for two months and surviving on canned food, which worsened the health of my sick mother and the children who were at risk of being infected with Hepatitis B and other infections which spread in the shelter where they lived. For months, they have not eaten healthy food like fresh fruit, eggs, or meat, which is difficult for little kids who suddenly are deprived of all the treats they once enjoyed. Their struggle did not end there. The family moved to Rafah for three months and then back to Khan Younis City three weeks ago after the Rafah invasion, where they are living in tents under extremely tough conditions.

The children, who once had big dreams and were happy with their friends at school and were supposed to be finishing the school year by now and getting ready for an enjoyable summer holiday, are now deeply traumatized by their experiences sleeping on the sand and lacking the simplest needs in life like food, water, washroom, clean clothes and above all, safety, and security. Even when they are lucky to get some food to cook like some potatoes or soup, it is cooked on firewood which is very unhealthy and causes my mother’s and the children's asthma to worsen.

Why We Need Your Help:
Our family has lost their homes and source of income, and above all safety and the children’s access to medical care and education. Their town was destroyed including all the infrastructure, farms, hospitals, schools, and houses, everything was turned into rubble. So even after the war ends, they will have no place to return to, and it will take years to rebuild things again. We're raising funds to provide necessities like medication, food, etc, pay the high evacuation fees charged by the Egyptian side (7000 US dollars per adult, and 2500 per child) to allow Gazans to enter Egypt, cover my mother’s heart surgery in Egypt, and assist with the Canadian visa application fees, biometrics, and flights, Here is a link with more information about the program: https://www.international.gc.ca/world-monde/issues_development-enjeux_developpement/response_conflict-reponse_conflits/crisis-crises/israel.aspx?lang=eng

Your generous contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of our family, especially the children. Every donation, no matter how small, brings them one step closer to safety and hope. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. Together, we can help baby Asiya and her family escape the horrors of war and begin a new chapter in their lives filled with peace and opportunity.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support.

With deepest gratitude,

Duaa and Family
