Help 30 yr old Liam recover from brain surgery and stroke

Donation protected
Four weeks ago (11th November 2024) whilst living in Australia, Liam’s world changed drastically, he was meant to be going for lunch but never showed - his friends and girlfriend rushed round to check on him and found him on the floor after having a major stroke. Since then, he has had two lifesaving brain surgeries: a Thrombectomy to take the clot out, and a Craniotomy (which involved cutting the skull and leave it floating to relieve pressure in the brain, due to the swelling).

He was in a Coma in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and now is currently in the Stroke Ward with full time care as he now tries to fight for recovery. He has had a significant stroke to the right side of the brain, which means his left side of his body is currently showing minimal movement/sensation. We have a short window of opportunity to raise as much as we can as the next 3 months is critical to Liam’s recovery

Liam’s dream was to live in Australia and was looking forward to starting his new job as a Mechanical Engineer on the Monday when this all took place on the Sunday afternoon.

Although he is staying positive and strong with his mindset, there is a long road ahead and lots of unknowns to what his body will be once he goes through intensive rehab.

As we are currently based in Australia, we are asking for any donations towards the care he we need. The current plan is to fly home to the UK where he can continue his recovery.

I have put together a list of things the money will directly go to, in order for Liam to have the best possible recovery:

• Flight home (This will be in the coming weeks)
• Maximise amount of rehab vs. limited NHS provision
• Complementary activities to improve effectiveness of rehab/any private rehab that we can afford
• Financial support to cover the time gap until disability benefit assessment and all of the non-recurring costs associated with sudden disability
• Any aids to assist him in day to day tasks

Liam is the first to help his family/friends and strangers with any handy man/car problems. He is so selfless when it comes to helping others so we hope people can do the same for him now xxxx
