Hello! My name is Elizabeth Lee

My dear friend, Bet Williams, recently had a serious accident while on tour in Germany, and she needs our help. This fundraiser is to cover her medical costs, loss of income, physical therapy, and essential living expenses. Bet has given us so much through her music and friendship—let’s support her during this challenging time.

The Accident

On Friday, October 25th at about 6:30 in the evening, my dear friend and colleague, Bet Williams, and I finished the soundcheck before our concert in east Germany. The stage lights were dimmed to prepare for the audience to enter. I made my way down the front steps off the stage when I heard a loud noise and scream behind me. In the darkness, Bet had fallen off the side of the stage. As I turned around, she was limping out from behind the curtain, saying, “I think it’s bad! I think it’s broken!” Her foot was dangling at an odd angle in her boot. An ambulance was called and quickly arrived. They brought in a stretcher, braced her leg, and took her to a nearby hospital, where doctors discovered a complex, severe break in her leg and several in her ankle.

That night, Bet underwent her first surgery to stabilize the bones, followed by a second, more extensive procedure a week later. She was recently released to convalesce in Hannover with friends—a doctor and a nurse—where she is now receiving excellent care.

The Impact

The remainder of the tour and all of Bet’s upcoming performances have been canceled, causing a devastating loss of income for this freelance artist. She cannot return to the U.S. yet and likely won’t perform again until April 2025. The doctors have warned her that walking normally may be a challenge going forward.

How You Can Help

Bet’s medical expenses, physical therapy, and living costs are overwhelming, totaling at this point around €45,000 ($47,000). Insurance has not yet provided coverage, and likely won’t, leaving her in a precarious financial position.
