Help 5 people, 3 cats, & 1 dog move to Eureka CA!

My name is Jennifer and I am raising funds to move from Los Angeles, CA, to Eureka, CA.

The move is proving to be quite the logistical challenge. I am moving, of course, along with sisters Anji and Barrie, Anji’s teen children Jayk and Grace, and pets (three cats and one dog, to be specific.) The one-way trip is 644 miles, or around about ten hours by car; at least, according to Google. (Google also assures me that the trip could be made by train in 16 hours, on foot in 280 hours, or by bicycle in 71 hours. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at the mental image of us trying to shepherd two teens, four pets, and all of our stuff 600+ miles by bicycle.)

When I was younger, I always used to move myself, throw stuff in whatever boxes happened to be laying around, toss it in the back of a U-Haul, and off I’d go. But I am a widow now, and not as young as I used to be. Barrie is on disability. Anji’s cancer is in remission, thank God, but this would have been a lot of moving for all three of us combined, even when we were younger.

We need help, and more help than Jayk and Grace alone can provide. Collette (the dog, who is a Siberian Husky) is enthusiastic, but not much practical use (wonder what Google would tell me if I looked up how long it would take us to move via bobsled.)

For the first time ever, we need to hire movers: actual, professional movers who can help pack boxes and put them in two trucks, and drive the trucks 600 miles, and then unload everything on the other side. We’ll also need to rent a car for ourselves (it’s the only practical way to manage the pets.)

All of us are deeply grateful for any assistance. Funds raised will go to moving expenses (especially movers!)
