Help 73-year-old Joyce rebuild her house and life
Donation protected
At 7.30 am on June 7th, we awoke to the terrifying and devastating news that our Aunty Joyce’s house in Accra (Ghana/ West Africa) was on fire. We soon tragically learned that an arsonist started the fire. Thankfully, there were no casualties or injuries. However, despite efforts to put the fire out, the 4-bedroom house which she built 35 years ago and in which she has since lived with her 3 dependents, the youngest of whom is 14 years old, burned down. The damage is catastrophic. The foundation was severely damaged, and no personal belongings were salvageable.
Everyone who knows Aunty Joyce (or Grandma to the dozens of grandchildren who routinely stayed with her), knows how kind and generous she is. She has always selflessly gone out of her way to help others. The fact that her generosity was targeted in such a violent way is mind-numbing.
Today, it is our turn to help her. I am starting this GoFundMe to help our family raise funds for her. All contributions received will help her (i) purchase personal belongings, and ii) build a new house. As it will cost over $125,000 to rebuild the house on the same plot, we are inviting friends and well-wishers to please support Aunty Joyce with prayers and financial contributions. Having retired from work 10 years ago, she does not have other resources to help. Although it has been an emotionally difficult month for her as she comes to terms with the current reality, we are determined to turn this situation around and keep a smile on her face. Thank you in advance for any support that you can provide.
Kindly share this GoFundMe page with your networks so we can reach more people who may wish to assist. The old building has been knocked down and the land cleared of debris. We are hoping to begin construction as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time, prayers, consideration and generosity.
