Help 8yr Old Deven Beat Cancer
Donation protected
Deven is a sweet, caring 8 year old boy who loves animals, painting, pirates, and geology. Above all, he loves his dogs, little brother (Ronin), and his Mom and Dad (Inderani & James). He is sensitive, kind, and shows compassion beyond his years. He is quick to offer a hug to everyone he meets
Last month, Deven had a pain in his knee that wouldn’t go away after a seemingly mild injury on the playground. His physician recommend a visit to a pediatric orthopedic oncologist after noticing a suspicious lesion on Deven's knee on an x-ray.
On March 8th, 2019 Deven was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Osteosarcoma. This diagnosis was devastating to Deven's family. It requires aggressive treatment, and a long road to recovery.
He will undergo months of chemotherapy as well as surgery to remove the affected area (his knee). A temporary prosthesis will surgically replace his knee and be manipulated to grow as Deven does. This will be surgically replaced with a permanent prosthesis once he stops growing. If this does not work- amputation may be necessary. He is currently in a full cast from ankle to hip and can only move with the use of crutches or a wheelchair and will remain this way for a long time.
Deven does not fully understand what cancer is or why he is going through this. He doesn't understand why he feels extremely sick from something that is supposed to be helping him get better.
At the time of his diagnosis, Deven's family was in the middle of moving and Inderani needed to change jobs. This ended up with her taking a considerable reduction in salary. Deven’s situation and the expenses that come with this kind of diagnosis were obviously not anticipated, putting even more financial weight on the family.
To help Deven beat his cancer, we are requesting support, prayers and funds to help cover treatment costs, and expenses. Deven's treatments are taking place at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His family has to travel from New Jersey to Manhattan 4 or more days every single week. They have to pay bridge tolls and parking every visit, which is expensive. He will need a variety of medications, treatments, surgeries, medical accessories, and good care in order to complete his course of treatment.
Deven desperately needs the support of everyone to help him beat cancer and get healthy once again. Anything you can contribute will help this wonderful young boy and may change his life and the lives of his family forever.
Thank you.
