Help 9 month old baby Eric beat CANCER

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart to say that our youngest family member, my nephew, 9-month-old baby Eric was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. His parents received the call no parent ever wants to get on June 6, 2023, informing them that Eric has Spindle Cell Sarcoma Tumor on his left hand.

Eric was born on August 2022 premature and after a bit of a fight, he was finally strong enough to go home with his Mom (Katt), Dad (Merle) and his big sister (Melody), who couldn't wait to have him home. It was at this time that they noticed a small lump on Eric's hand and he was originally diagnosed with a large deep infantile hemangioma and was put on medication to resolve this. But after a while on this medication, his parents noticed this was not getting any better and continued to grow. He was then booked for an appointment in Calgary to see a specialist and it was determined they were going to need to do a biopsy to confirm exactly what this growth was. A week after the biopsy they received the worst call of their lives, CANCER.

On June 14th Eric will need to be back in Calgary to run more tests to determine if the cancer has metastasized (spread) or if it was caught early enough. He will then start his first round of Chemo to try and shrink the mass that grows in his hand, they will then operate to try and remove it. If they are unable to completely remove the cancer he will need to go through rounds of radiation to try to kill the remaining cells.

This is going to be a long road for both my baby nephew and his parents. It will require a lot of travelling from their home in Medicine Hat to the children's hospital in Calgary. This is going to incur a lot of extra expenses for an already struggling family. Katt had planned to return to work early from her maternity however now Eric will require extra care and time and there is no way for her to be able to return at this time. Merle will also need to take time off to be with his son through these trying times and appointments.

Any little bit that you can help with, to mitigate the costs for them would be greatly appreciated. We are hoping for the best possible outcome and we ask that you keep Eric in your thoughts and prays. Anyone that knows Eric knows he is the happiest little boy ever and is nothing but love and smiles. He is a fighter and we know we will get through this.
