We want to help make their lives feel as normal as they can. Any donation will be GREATLY appreciated.
I, Windy Gale, have been working with Guy and Erika Levy to help raise money to help the Ukrainian National Aesthetic Group Gymnastics team. They are from Kharkiv, Ukraine, and fled the country, hoping for safety. We brought them to the USA until the war is over, so the team can continue to train and compete so they can finish their competition season. As they train we hope to help them recover from their traumatic war experience.
Below are some of the stories from the gymnasts; Please take a moment to read about their personal experiences in witnessing the
Teammate Arina - We spent our life in our hallway as our apartment building was shot time after time every 20 minutes from February 24th till now. Sometimes we would run down to bomb shelter (basement of our apartment building) but after 30 days we have decided to stay in the basement. I'm writing this as I hear shooting outside.
Teammate Alina -We lived for a week in the basement. We heard airplanes flying and dropping bombs. My dad decided to drive us to west Ukraine and he returned to Harkov to fight as of 2 days ago. Bombs are dropping here. We are in Lviv now. We have no place to go. I'm scared.
A Note from the President of the USA Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Federation:
My name is Elena Baltkovick and I am Ukrainian.
I have been living in the USA for a long time and have been blessed with all the opportunities that the USA has given me.
After weeks and weeks of non-stop travel, unimaginable logistics, and efforts by their Ukrainian coaches and local sponsors, the Ukrainian Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Team has finally fled war-torn Ukraine and arrived safely in San Diego, California, USA. Keeping the team together, and out of harm's way, this group of nine girls from Kharkiv, Ukraine, are currently staying with two local families who quickly stepped in and opened their homes and hearts to these innocent girls, ages 14-22. This was an immediate solution to their crisis. Without their parents or any other family, they are far from home, worried about their families, and trying to acclimate to their new surroundings. The girls are continuing their education online and are training six days/week at a local gym in order to pursue their lifelong commitment to the sport, and to perform in competitions.
Now we need your help to fund their long-term needs; housing, food, transportation, essentials, etc. With no end in sight to this tragic and devastating war, our goal is to raise fund for the host family that is there semi-permanent housing for these kind and grateful girls until they can safely return home to their families.
