Help 9 Year Old Boy with Cancer Treatments

My name is Ayesha Hosain.
Dylan Carr, a happy, loveable and outgoing 9-year old Fredericton boy, has been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma.
Dylan also happens to be autistic. That's how I met him about 5 years ago. I was his Educational Assistant (EA) when he was in Kindergarten and Grade 1 at Park Street Elementary School in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
- About a year ago, Dylan began complaining about a 'hurter' and would put his hands on his chest to show where he felt pain. It became worse about two weeks ago and CT scans revealed a large mass on the right side of little Dylan's chest.
- Dylan's parents immediately took him to paediatric specialists at the closest children's hospital in this area, the Izaak Walton Killam (IWK) Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where physician's performed a biopsy on the growth.
- Yesterday, November 3rd, 2021, Dylan's parent's, Krista and Ryan Carr, received the news no parent would ever want to receive. The large mass was confirmed as a cancerous tumor: Ewing's Sarcoma .
- The family is leaving for Halifax on Monday, November 8th. Dylan is scheduled for numerous tests such as MRI, CT scan, blood work, etc.
- On Friday, November 12th, Dylan will have surgery to install an injection "port" to prepare him for chemotherapy, which begins Monday, November 15th.
The money we raise here will go towards helping the family manage this medical crisis.
- Dylan's father, Ryan was injured at work in June 2021 and is awaiting an MRI prior to surgery. His inability to work already put a financial strain on the family prior to this news.
- The family does not have a vehicle and relies on public transportation.
- To get Dylan to and from his treatments, the Carr's will rely on family (and community) support to get them to and from the IWK in Halifax, NS.
- They haven't secured accommodations yet for prolonged stays near the IWK.
- Dylan has an older sister, Payton who is 11-years old. We are considering her needs, as she deals with this devastating news about her brother.
I don't want to write the prognosis of Ewing's Sarcoma on this page. This GoFundMe campaign is about lessening the negative impact a cancer diagnosis has on any family. I'd like to focus on that, instead; to help reduce the stress, anxiety or despair the Carr's may likely be feeling.
Helping to offset travel and accommodation expenses, as well as helping reduce some of the other financial burden this cancer diagnosis may cause, is the goal of this GoFundMe campaign.
The IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax, NS is a world class medical center. However, it is a 4.5-hours (430 kms or 260 miles) one-way trip from Fredericton, NB. Funding will help eliminate any obstacle caused by either the travel time or the distance to the hospital.
Dylan's Mom will need time off work to accompany him and his Dad to the IWK. We know those stays in Halifax may be prolonged. So the family's income will definitely be negatively impacted during treatment times. Again, the funds raised here will eliminate the worry of how their household bills will be paid - we'll take care of that!
