Help 97.7 FM - WCHY Cheboygan get even better!!!

Hey Everyone,...we need to update our technology at our transmitter site in Cheboygan, Michigan, and at our studio.  

We are a local, community-based radio station, being heard in the Northern tip of the Lower Peninsula (Charlevoix, Petoskey, Gaylord, Onaway, Rogers City, Cheboygan, Mackinaw City),...and the Eastern Part of the Upper Peninsula (St. Ignace, Drummond Island, Kinross, almost to SSM).

We really want to improve the quality of life for Northern Michigan by promoting local small businesses, who can grow and employ more people, with higher wages and benefits.  Additionally, we want to lower the cost of living and also provide information to improve the health of our community, who listen to our station on a regular basis.

WHY DO WE NEED THESE FUNDS?

We need to replace the outdated transmitter, which is blowing tubes constantly.  We want to purchase a new state of the art electronic solid-state transmitter, with no tubes.  It will reduce our electric usage by 50% and will keep us on the air for years to come.

Additionally, we need to build stronger firewalls and purchase better sound equipment in our studio.  We need some additional server computers and update our automation system.  Currently, we have a system that airs "DEAD AIR" on a regular basis, which is a death sentence for a radio station.

We air Michigan based talk shows; The Steve Gruber Show from 6 am - 9 am, followed by "Your Defending Fathers" with "Trucker Randy" 9 am - 12 Noon, Monday - Friday.

Then at 12 Noon (EST) we air the Super Hits of the 60's, 70's, MoTown and the Roots of Rock & Roll.  Music all weekend long, starting 12 Noon on Friday, til Monday morning.

We need to raise this money as soon as possible so we can start making these improvements, as soon as the money starts coming in.

Your support will help us modernize this local community-based radio station for years to come.

It has been our life goal to own a radio station, but we didn't realize that it would require so much money to upgrade this station.
