Help Chu and Megan start over after the Eaton Fire
Donation protected
My name is Jessica, and I’m writing on behalf of my sister Chu and partner, Megan, who recently lost their home in the devastating Altadena/Eaton fire. They escaped in the middle of the night with little more than the clothes on their backs. Megan fled with only the shoes on her feet. As I texted her in real-time, it felt like a scene from a disaster movie—but it was heartbreakingly real.
Chu and Megan are two of the most hardworking and selfless people you’ll ever meet. Chu is a self-made entrepreneur and owner of a logistics company that helps small businesses with storage, shipping, and logistics. Megan, a People Operations professional, has spent her career standing up for and supporting others as they navigate the workplace. Now, they need the very support they’ve always given.
As many might know, Chu and Megan were only in their home for a mere 2 years. They purchased their home at the end of September 2022 with the plans to marry on Oct 29th 2022. They selflessly gave the previous owners free rent so they can move out of the state only giving themselves 2 weeks to transform their new home for their wedding. From there they have spent the last 2 years working on their dream home to finally enjoy a bit of it before it was taken all away.

Despite facing challenges of their own, Chu and Megan—members of the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities—have always extended love and support to friends, family, and even strangers. Their home was more than just a house—it symbolized their hard work, love, and dreams of a shared future. In fact, they were married on the property in 2022.
It’s hard to comprehend the magnitude of this tragedy, but I humbly ask for your support. With collective compassion, we can help Chu and Megan use these funds to get essentials like clothes, shoes, cover for food and temporary housing. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing their story is just as meaningful.

As of now, Chu and Megan have not been approved by FEMA, leaving them in a difficult financial situation. Despite having home insurance, their insurance company has yet to appraise the damage, which means they’re in limbo and unable to access immediate support. Meanwhile, they still have to cover their mortgage and property taxes, and they’re now faced with the need to rent a home for at least nine months. Without FEMA assistance, they could potentially be paying for both rent and their existing mortgage. The funds raised will help offset the immense costs required to navigate this challenging year and allow them to focus on rebuilding their lives. With all that they are going through, they still need to pay for their mortgage this month! These funds will help them until they can figure things out with insurance.
Let’s remind Chu and Megan that they're not alone even in their darkest moments. Your kindness and support will help them heal, offer temporary stability, and continue being the incredible, selfless people they’ve always been.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
