Help Jaliya - Fight Against Brain Tumor
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I kindly appeal to you, and request for your support in helping our beloved friend Chamera Jaliya Perera, affectionately known as Jaliya.
Jaliya is a beacon of kindness, a heart full of compassion, an the embodiment of the word 'help'. He builds bridges, and expands the horizon of what it means to be a friend. He is a devoted husband, and a loving father for two beautiful daughters. His journey has taken an unexpected turn, and he needs our help more than ever.
Jaliya, a proud alumnus of the Royal College, Class of 2007, has always been a pillar of strength in the community. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly with the establishment of the beloved "Aayu" Healthy Food store in Sri Lanka. Through his endeavors, he aimed not only to nourish bodies but also to uplift spirits and promote well-being.
Eight months ago, Jaliya and his young family embarked on a new chapter in Melbourne, Australia, He recently moved to Melbourne with his young family and is in the midst of settling in. However, their bliss was soon overshadowed by a devastating diagnosis. Jaliya was diagnosed with a brain tumor, specifically a Craniopharyngioma, which has severely impacted his eyesight and hormone reproduction.
The doctors at Austin Hospital, Melbourne, have stressed the urgency of surgery due to the complexity of his condition. However, Jaliya and his family face a daunting challenge – they are not covered by Medicare, and their private health insurance cannot assist due to pre-existing conditions and waiting periods.
The cost of the surgery alone is estimated at AUD $45,000, a sum they cannot afford in their current financial situation. Faced with limited options, Jaliya and his family have made the decision to return to Sri Lanka for the surgery, where costs are more manageable but still significant.
The road to recovery will be long and arduous. Jaliya will require extensive medical care, including hormone replacement therapy, and the financial burden weighs heavily on their shoulders. To add to their challenges, their insurance claim for a recent hospital stay was declined, leaving them with an additional $15,000 bill to cover.
As Jaliya's friend, I am reaching out to our community and friends for support. Your generous donations can ease the financial strain on Jaliya and his family, allowing them to focus on his recovery without the added stress of medical bills.
Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal of supporting Jaliya and his family through this challenging time. Together, we can be the light in his darkness, offering hope, love, and solidarity.
If you can please donate or share Jaliya's story. Your kindness will make a world of difference to Jaliya and his family.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Sujan Jayasiriwardena
