Help VNATION storm the FTC National Championships!
Donation protected
St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy's award winning robotics team is back for another year! Team VNATION won the Design Award at last year's competition, held at the University of Cambridge in June. Can you help them reach the national championships, and go for an award the second year running?
This year's regional qualifying competition is held on March 7th, and we're hosting it! Can you help the home team to succeed and make it through to the next level? This group of fifteen incredible students has big dreams of winning the major Inspire Award if they can make it through.
St Margaret Ward was one of the teams to take part from the very first launch of the First Tech Challenge in the UK, and to stay competitive they need to update their robot kit. Funds raised are used for:
- New robot components
- New team kit (hoodies) for the new team members this year
- Small giveaways to make them stand out at the competition
Thanks to the generosity of our donors last year, VNATION were able to take to the stage at the University of Cambridge as award winners! Can you help us do it again?
What is the First Tech Challenge?
FIRST Tech Challenge empowers young people aged 12-18 with the technical knowledge and soft skills to thrive in STEM and beyond. Working like teams in industry, they design, build and programme a robot to compete at progressive events. Over 120 teams competed at qualifying tournaments and up to 40 teams will compete nationally at the UK champs in Cambridge this June. The challenge is run by charity, FIRST UK, with a mission to make STEM less intimidating, more diverse and inclusive.
In 2023:
● 71% now wish to pursue a career in STEM
● 41% identify as girls or non-binary
● 37% are from ethnically diverse backgrounds
