Help an 80 yr old Navy Veteran who was swindled!

Calling all patriots! In a disheartening turn of events, an 80-year-old retired and disabled U.S. Navy Veteran became the latest victim of a fraudulent kitchen remodeling scheme. After entrusting a Miami-based home remodeling company with her hard-earned savings of $10,000.00, the victim found herself grappling with the devastating reality of being defrauded and left with an unfinished kitchen for approximately 2 years. I am a retired Army Colonel leading a great team of fellow Veterans and private citizens to right a wrong. Our mission is to raise the funds needed to complete this project for a senior Veteran who served her country honorably for 21 years as a medical professional. She's never asked for anything in her life and it's now time for us to pay it forward.

BACKGROUND: Mr. Christopher Gothner of Local 10 News broke the following story on June 8, 2023. It reads: A husband-wife pair of unlicensed contractors defrauded her out of $10,000 for a fraudulent remodeling job and left her kitchen in ruins. Homestead Police said Eileen Haran hired the pair to remodel her kitchen two years ago, was quoted $20,000 for the job, and paid Yes Pro Services a $10,000 deposit. The process initially seemed promising, but “as time progressed, it became evident that Yes Pro Services Inc had deceived her, leaving her kitchen in a state of disarray and herself in financial distress,” Capt. Fernando Morales, a Homestead Police Department spokesperson, said in a news release. Haran got nothing but “excuses or unanswered calls” and her kitchen was left in shambles for two years, Morales said. She alerted police, who conducted a joint investigation with Miami-Dade County’s Contractor Licensing Enforcement Section, authorities said. Morales said the couple, who also own a company called Yes Roofing, “misrepresented to the victim that they were a licensed company,” “swindled” her out of $10,000 and refused to return the deposit on multiple occasions. The pair were arrested by HPD detective Lexus Guerrero and face charges of grand theft by a contractor, contractor fraud, and falsely advertising as a licensed contractor. He said Haran is “hopeful that she will be able to find a trustworthy company who is able to help her complete her kitchen remodel and enjoy her retirement.”

CURRENT SITUATION: Since this took place two years ago and with increasing prices, Eileen has received more realistic quotes from retailers in the $40K range. It's important to note that these crooks intentionally low-balled her in an attempt to attract and convince her to hire them and then swindle her out of a $10K deposit. She has burnt her hands twice carrying hot water in a bucket from another location in the house to clean her dishes. She lives by herself and has no children or relatives to help her. She worked as an FNP for a total of 60 years and recently retired her nursing license in April 2023. She cared for the military's wounded warriors during her time in the Navy as a nurse at Landstuhl Army Hospital in Germany for over a year, until she sustained an accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. She is now a disabled Veteran but holds her own with vigor and grace. Eileen is - and always has been - caring and nurturing and has never asked for help in her entire life. She selflessly served our country with honor for 21 years and is desperate to get her house and kitchen back in order so she can finally enjoy a well earned retirement.

GOAL: It's now time to find trustworthy companies that will help her achieve that dream so she can enjoy a simple cup of coffee in the morning, and make herself meals in a comfortable kitchen and living environment. As you can see from the pics, her kitchen is in total disarray. Your donation will help to that end to include labor, materials, and clean up. I will keep all donors informed every step of the way of our progress. We ask for no more, but no less in taking care of this great lady and Navy Veteran. Receipts will be kept to account for every penny. God bless all of you who donate! Please share this campaign with your family and friends on all available social media. It's simply the right thing to do. Below link is the story from Local 10 News that launched this mission.
