Help a black enby get out of their toxic home
Donation protected
Mel is a closeted enby lesbian who is currently living in Ontario, Canada with a mother who is homophobic and verbally, physically, and mentally abusive to them.
It has been often that their mother will also resort to yelling vile remarks at Mel over simple tasks.
Most recently, their mother had told them they would be better off dead so she (Mel`s mother) didn`t have to deal with them and deal with putting her hands on them when Mel hadn`t taken dishes out of the dishwasher fast enough. Mind you, using physical force has been something Mel already has past trauma from in a previous household and this is something her mother knows and continues to subject them to. This has been the least straw for Mel.
Their mental health has worsened given the subjection to life in their environment, something many of us Black LGBT+ teens and young adults understand way too well. Mel`s home life along with the state of this pandemic has made it hard for them to find a job to be able to stably support their self. In addition to the fact their mother has told them to leave numerous times, they have expressed to us, their friends that they need to get out as soon as possible.
We are raising $22,000 CAD for Mel to find and start renting out an apartment in Toronto with coverage for at least 6 months with addition to food, transportation phone bill expenses, and any utility fees while they look for a job.
