Help A Black Queer Artist Move into a Stable Place
Donation protected
Hey everyone, I’m Tyler. A queer, neurodivergent black working artist. I’m trying to raise money right now for a 2 month and a half deposit rent to move into a more stable living condition. I am currently living in an apartment with the person I pay rent to. I recently communicated to them how it seemed odd that our rent is increasing while the rent our neighbors pay has decreased since quarantine.(Also I asked them why is it that their rent has stayed the same since I moved in, yet they have also moved themselves into the biggest room in the apartment, they didn’t have an actual answer other than that it’s because their name is on the lease). I tried to negotiate the decreasing of the rent I pay in exchange for cleaning and supplying the apartment with food each week, but they made it clear that the exact rent asked MUST be paid. I am currently not in the finical position to continue to pay the amount they are demanding of me. This person has very strong passive aggressive tendencies, so I am worried that if I leave to see family during the holiday I will come home to my room empty. What this person is doing is taking advantage of the fact I’m not on the lease because of credit issues and keeping me in the dark about the exact amount for rent. They make the space very unconfutable to be in because majority of the furniture and appliances are theirs and they go out their way to constantly make that known to me and my other roommate (both queer working-class black people). She has also carelessly brought Covid into the apartment and gave it to my other roommate who is now currently quarantine in their own room. I need to reach my goal before February so I won’t get evicted. Please Help if you can.
