HELP a Black, Trans Jamaican Woman Find Safety

I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of Shauna K, a young and talented Black Trans woman living and surviving in Jamaica. While Jamaica is a beautiful country with a rich and beautiful history, unfortunately Homophobia and Transphobia is very much present which affects the day to day lives of Queer people living there. We are looking to raise $10,000 to get Shauna a flight to the us, secure housing, and to use the additional funds to help sustain her through her business. Shauna has written her own plea for support:

"As a trans woman living in Jamaica it has become a struggle and unsafe in most cases,especially when living in areas where it’s not all that secure or with neighbors that’s always looking or watching your business.In this case living in a house among my trans chosen family which has depart to the US I’m also seeking help to move to another country for a more comfortable environment and safer life.In this case judging and tearing down is not acceptable as we all come to situations especially as trans people where serious help and assistance is needed and the only way to get there is by asking for adequate and honest help and support.In this case I’m asking for your assistance and love in making my life a better and safer one.Thank you."

In addition to finding safety in a new place Shauna has dreams to support herself by dedicating her passion for fashion and hair to her community. She wants folks to be aware that after securing a place and safety she will be working to sustain herself through her art:

"I’m a makeup artist, fashion designer and wig maker/stylist who’s looking to bring my branch and business to another level and while sustaining a comfortable and safer life. The work I do means a lot to me and working with my trans family and even general society has made me appreciate it even more, You help and support will not go undone or said uplift a woman who’s able and willing to make use of any good opportunities given."
