Help A Black Trans Woman SAFELY Resettle!

Donation protected
Hey y'all! I'm Princess and currently, I live overseas in Japan for work. I have lived overseas for well over seven years and it has had its ups and downs. Since moving I've been a target for transphobia and racism and as a result have had issues with job security over the years. In the past six years, I've been fired from at least five jobs due to transphobia. As a result, I've been on the brink of homelessness many times, stressed, depressed, suicidal, and have suffered from an eating disorder as a result.

That isn't to say that where I live isn't completely bad, but I realised last year that the way I was living all of those years wasn't sustainable. I also realised I was accepting abuse thinking it was just the way things were and would always be in life because I'm a Black trans woman and didn't realise until last winter things could even change for the better and that I deserved more.

I've always wanted to go back to uni and last year, I started to research different places and decided on Australia. When I first saw the uni and programme I am interested in studying, I instantly knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I knew it was the right programme for me and the friendly faculty and students in that department solidified my decision with their help and advise. I started researching life in Australia and though nowhere is perfect it seemed like a good fit. I also visited and stayed for a while in Australia years ago which made my decision even easier since I was familiar with it to an extent.

After researching extensively and deciding that it was the right fit, I applied for American financial aid and my tuition should be covered. I'm also looking for scholarships just in case. The only thing I'm worried about now is living expenses. I've been granted a student visa, but I need money for living expenses. The Australian government recommends that foreigners should bring at least 15,000USD to start out and unfortunately I can't do it alone. I need your help!

The money will go towards finding an apartment, buying appliances, utilities, continuing my hormone replacement therapy (HRT), food, and any other unforeseeable expenses when I am in Australia. I intend to move to Australia 2023 January to start apartment and job searching and the semester will start 2023 February. That is not very far away and with how much I make now I won't be able to raise everything I need in time because I live pay check to pay check and most of my salary goes towards rent, commuting, food, and HRT.

Where I live now, I face transphobia daily and it's difficult at times trying to communicate in a language I'm not fluent in and after so many years of work discrimination, sexual harassment, racial profiling, etc. I am ready to move somewhere that's more open to at least trans people and continue my degree. A degree isn't everything, but when you're a Black trans woman you know that the more credentials you have the easier life becomes.

My end goal is to get my masters in Australia followed by a PhD and then find a job that will pay more than I get paid now. I am barely getting paid enough to survive and I'm currently facing discrimination in a field of work I am not passionate about. My plan after graduation is to find something related to the field of my interest and try to make enough so I won't have to worry as much about money as I constantly do now. I don't want to keep struggling just to live. I want stability and to feel safer than I do now.

If you've read this far thank you so much for reading my story and PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING AND SHARING WITH EVERYONE! You can donate through this website or donate directly to me using the methods below because this website takes a lot of money out of donations.

Alternative Methods of Donating:

Venmo/Cash App: TransFantome
PayPal: transfantome (gmail)

Thank you again genuinely from the heart. I hate asking for help, but this is so I can have a better future because the current future I'm in right now looks very bleak, scary, and unsustainable.
