Help a black trans-man get FTM top surgery!

Hi! My name is James, and I'm a 22-year-old transgender man and engineering student. I have been presenting as male for four years now, and have been on Testosterone for two years. 

In order to relieve gender dysphoria, I am in great need of top surgery, which is the removal of my breast tissue. I have been thinking about this for a long time, and have decided that I will be far more comfortable in my own body if I reduce the size of my breasts to a flat chest. 

I had a consultation with a surgeon in San Diego who specializes in the procedure I'm looking for: Female to Male (FTM) Chest Wall Reconstruction with Breast Reduction. This procedure will give me less scarring than a normal mastectomy and will retain nipple sensation. Since it is technically not a mastectomy like most FTM top surgeries, it is not covered by my health insurance and will cost me thousands of dollars out of pocket.

The whole process has two parts: The initial surgery which will be ~$8,270, and the revision which will be ~$6,245. These quotes cover the surgery, pathology, facility fee, and anesthesia.

I know this is a strange time to post a Go-Fund Me for top surgery. I received these quotes just before the start of the pandemic, but I have already been saving up for surgery for 3 years. Even if it takes me an extra 15 years to retire someday by spending my life savings on this surgery, it shall be worth it. Every cent of this campaign is one step closer to completing my transition.
