Help a Brazilian trans woman survive in Glasgow
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
thanks for arriving at this gofundme. I am reaching out for you in the name of a Brazilian trans friend who, for safety reasons, would like to stay anonymous. She is a wonderful person who brightens the life of everyone she meets and I would like to ask you to please read her story and consider making a donation

“Hi friends and comrades, I'm a Brazilian trans-woman. I'm reaching out publicly for the first time during this extremely difficult and stressful time to ask for your support. I am currently in the UK asylum system seeking protection from Brazil - the country that kills more trans people than anywhere else in the world. Because of my current situation in the system, I can't legally work, access public funds and legal aid, or get public accommodation, which puts me in a really vulnerable position right now and return is not an option due to all I experienced.
Back in Brazil I was also an activist for trans and SWers rights and due transphobia I had to be on the streets as a sex worker for survival and being exploited. Back there, I experience all kinds of daily harrassment and abuse which led to me almost losing my life many times. I went to the police to ask for protection and just like many trans women (sex workers mostly) in Brazil, my case was ignored.
During that time, I was trying to maintain some sense of agency and empowerement by supporting other transgender people and SWers, even while going through sexual exploitation and hight level of violence, but that left me in danger.
Unfortunately, my safety here is in jeopardy because of the hostility of the asylum system and this process leaves me in a unstable situation that I cannot even take care of my basic living expenses. I need support for:
Rent and utilities 750.00 monthly
Basic food and necessities 200.00 monthly
Transportation costs 77.00 monthly
Gender Affirming Care Procedures
Legal Case cost 2550.00
Besides I have faced the worst transphobia can inflict and being traumatized by it, I still found energy to dedicate my life to supporting other trans and queer people in my community who are marginalised and asking for help is never easy. However, I'm determined to continue my journey of advocacy and support my community, just like I used to do before arriving in the UK.
Here, I feel embraced by the queer community in Glasgow and I feel safer and proud of the life I have created for myself. I’ve found hope and positivity and belonging.
Please keep in mind that any contribution, no matter how small, will help me maintain the basic stability that I need during this hard time. I promise to use all funds responsibly and continue giving back to the community as I've always done.
Thank you for considering supporting my campaign. Your help means more than just financial assistance, it means I can continue to live in safety and stability. I trying my best to survive and I still have the fire in me to keep going. In addition, I am sharing my art-vist work in this fundraiser image, that was part of an exhibition I did here in the UK.”
