Help a brother stand

Have you ever met a superhero? His super power is the ability to make you feel better no matter how bad things are. My brother, Virgil, has been a hero to so many including total strangers, friends, and family. He has comforted me in grief, fed and clothe total strangers, paid bills for anyone who asked. He has made more people laugh than I can count. He has sat with many in the midst of their storms.
In October, as he was getting ready to attend our sister’s funeral, he collapsed. We learned he had suffered a stroke. The stroke resulted in paralysis of his left side. Blood thinners caused a retinal bleed that damaged his vision. Since then he has been unable to return to work. And now he needs our help.
We have an opportunity to do for him what he has done freely for so many. We can give back just a fraction of what he has given us. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Virgil also needs our help to cover mounting medical bills and expenses related to his care. Medical care and equipment are expensive. He remains unable to stand, move, or walk independently. He is currently receiving physical and occupational therapy to restore speech and some mobility. His home will have to be adapted for his needs.
Virgil continues to remain hopeful and in good spirits. His sense of humor has been untouched by this tragedy. He is an amazing example of grace and love. Our family looks forward to your support and we thank you for your kindness.
We love you all.
