Help a Dedicated Parent Keep The Lights On
Donation protected
I received notification today that our electricity is scheduled to be disconnected. I feel like such a failure as a parent, even though I know I've done all I could to prevent such a situation. Humbling myself enough to ask for your help is emotional- but there's no denying I need help. Our immediate needs are to pay the electricity, car&rental insurance, and phone. (My phone has already been disconnected, I was willing to live with that, but I can't have my boys here without electricity, heat, etc.)
Making my salary stretch to meet our needs is a juggling act for me each month- but many of you know my husband left me in July, and then I was sick with a really bad cough for over 3 months. I had to take some time off work, initially. Then, as the illness would not abate, I finally had to go to the doctor. My insurance through the school district pays nothing for a Dr. visit, so it was all out of pocket: the visit, the chest x-rays, multiple medications. Though I am physically recovered, financially it made a huge hurdle the past couple months-- it's now become insurmountable for me. Any money collected over the goal will go towards next month's bills.
I am working 2 jobs. The second job has no set schedule, but I've worked many concession stand gigs lately- it's just that the pay schedule runs about 2 months behind (it won't be here in time for me to keep the power on). Our church has graciously helped us with food, and I'm meeting with a developmental counselor who is helping me explore other career options and certification paths towards a career that better provides for my family's needs.
Hope is on the horizon! My lease is up April 7th, I'll hopefully find a more reasonably priced place to live, within my budget, and things won't be as tight. Thank you, sincerely, for your love, help, and prayers on our behalf.
