Help a disabled QTBIPOC Taurus get stabilized!!

Hello, I'm Jaydream and my dear chosen fam bff Dusty Rose is in need of support. Dusty is a 2Spirit trans artist living with chronic illness on Dakota land (so-called Minneapolis). We've been friends for almost 15 years!!

Late last year a mental health crisis resulted in Dusty being displaced from their home. When arriving home, zir 2 housemates moved out unexpectedly, leaving without paying bill and rent money that was fronted by zir ($1,200). Dusty's home was vandalized after last housemate left, and ze has been receiving violent threats and harassment from someone in the community which has resulted in fear for zir safety and has had a very negative impact on zir mental health struggles. Dusty has had to install security cameras around their house for physical safety and peace of mind ($300).
Dusty now can't afford zir mortgage payment ($1,300/month) and has had to go into forbearance. This stress has also affected the health of zir emotional support animals and ze has had to take both of them to the vet 3 times & the vet ER once in the last month ($1,000). Dusty has remained in school through all of this and is constantly applying for grants and scholarships. Ze is unemployed due to disability and has been in the process of applying for Social Security Disability for 2 years, which continues to drag on. Ze is now also left with outstanding medical bills from being hospitalized in the winter ($1,500). Dusty has no access to family support, wealth or inheritance and has been left to figure things out alone under extreme stress and ongoing crisis out of zir control.

These emotional and mental strains have resulted in a cycle of disregulation, and without much of any local community or support. For months Dusty has been resiliently attempting to move forward (applying for part time jobs, applying for grants and scholarships, interviewing potential housemates, remaining in school for graphic design, staying in therapy, seeking out/attending virtual support groups) but the burden of having a mortgage without housemates and now vet bills are leaving zir feeling hopeless.

Dusty deeply values community and caring for folks. Ze only has access to a house because of the local Land Trust, which you can only qualify for if you are low income. Ze's intention of having this house has been to cultivate an intentional safer space like they have experienced in zir younger years, as well as to support friends and QTBIPOC community with a communal home. Sadly Dusty's space, support and trust has been taken advantage of by the last few housemates, leaving them in a lurch.

I'm hoping to reach a wider web of support by advocating for their needs. Dusty needs to rest zir nervous system and a first step towards that is knowing they can care for zir dogs, stay in their home, and pay for basic needs without adding more debt/financial insecurity.
