Help a family impacted by Covid avoid homelessness
Hi all, a dear friend of mine has been experiencing real hardship due to the Covid-19 pandemic. One year in, the financial pressure that they've been put under has led to a precarious housing situation and they now live under the threat of being made homeless by the council. I've put together this crowdfund to help them avoid this. Please read through the message from my friend and please share and donate. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hi there,
I've launched this fundraiser to help support my family during a difficult time. To provide some context, we are a family of 7 living in temporary accommodation in Wembley, Brent. Our income has been massively affected by the pandemic. For the past year, we have found it near impossible to cover both our housing and living costs. My mum is a single parent, she works as a carer but at the height of Covid her hours were significantly reduced and at times she wasn't given any shifts at all.
Me and my teenage siblings have always worked but some of us have been made redundant or we've been furloughed. It's been an exceptionally difficult year for so many, as a working-class family that always struggled to make ends meet, we've really felt the financial impacts of Covid and we now need support to help get us out of this situation.
We are under constant threat of eviction. We've been told by the council that we must treat this as urgently as possible or we risk making ourselves "intentionally homeless". Further court action can also be taken if we do not clear our arrears as soon as possible. We need £6000 to do this and every penny raised will go towards paying off our debt.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer in helping my family acquire peace of mind and safety. I am forever grateful.
