Help Support the Reece Family's Fight with Epilepsy
Donation protected
First off, our hearts go out to all those that live with Epilepsy or medical situation or hardship that has a negative impact on our lives.
We are the Reece family. My name is Jeff, and my wife's name is Elizabeth. We have three children two of whom still live at home. Elizabeth was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 38, and her condition has progressively worsened over the past seven years, to recently where she is having multiple seizures per week, requiring constant caregiving.
Our hearts have a place for all families or individuals that live with or knows someone that lives with Epilepsy. There are so many different types of seizures and the severity and how they affect the patient and the loved ones caring for those with Epilepsy, but when I watch or hold my wife while she has a grand mal or a minor focal seizure, it is the hardest thing I have ever seen or been a part of. Whether it was the first seizure, or now, after so many, it doesn't get any easier to endure. I just want to hug everyone that has experienced or has to experience this. We love you!!
Epilepsy presents not only physical challenges but also significant mental challenges. The uncertainty of when the next seizure might occur, how severe it will be, or whether it could be the last one is a constant source of fear. These concerns, coupled with the anxiety surrounding an upcoming brain surgery, have Elizabeth yearning for the outdoors. She dreams of nature, breathing the country fresh air, and being near trees and water, free from the big town lifestyle.
Our dream is, we sell our house, buy an all season 5th wheel rv, a truck and we live closer to nature. We would love to travel Ontario and Canada eventually, but financially, moving to a trailer and even parking it locally for the time being would relieve so much financial pressure right now. In addition, I will be able to stay caring for my wife as long as needed. Although there are benefits available to help while caring for her, it is temporary and not nearly enough to cover our existing commitments.
Due to the rising cost of living, increased interest rates and now Elizabeth's condition requiring constant care, we are currently facing serious challenges staying current with our finances and face legal repercussions if not addressed promptly.
All I can ask for is that people find warmth in their hearts and donate to help support us in this journey we face. Our family is deeply grateful for any support or kindness towards efforts and help for us to achieve this goal and attain a sense of peace and happiness while living a life with Epilepsy.
All donations, upfront will go towards getting the mortgage account up to date. Once the mortgage is up to date, we can sell the house. Proceeds of the house and donations will go towards the purchase of an RV and a truck. Donations will then be used for any parking fees, if required.
I will post updates on this page as the fundraiser progresses.
Thank you all for reading and taking the time to hear our story.
