Help a family pay bills and medical bills

Hi, my name is Terri Lynn. I am a single mom with 3 kids. One girl 12 years old and a boy 15 that live at home. I also have a 17 year old that does not live at home. The passed year and a half has thrown some very large speed bumps our way and in all honesty this last one hit so hard that we are hitting a brick wall financially. Here’s is our story!

august of 2020 my children and I took a holiday from rainbow lake to valleyview to visit family and enjoy the last bit of summer break. We left rainbow lake on august 12. Within a couple days of being in valleyview I got a call telling me that my oldest brother was taken by ambulance to an Edmonton hospital and he was basically diagnosed as brain dead, we had hope but after so long of being on life support they had to honour his wishes of not having it be that way and life support was ended. I had taken a job in valleyview to help get through paying bills and making sure that we could return to rainbow lake when it was time to, during this time my kids and I decided to make the move here to valleyview so we could be closer to loved ones, so for September we spent our time finding a place to live and I secured my job to be full time. We made arrangements to have a truck and trailer to go to rainbow lake the end of October to pack and move however I received a message early morning of October 21 telling me my house was on fire. I was at work so what was a girl to do right.. I worked through the day and made the phone calls when I was done just to find out that everything was gone and there was nothing I could do because I didn’t have renters insurance. We only just moved into the place in June. So there it was we had lost 35 years of memories and things we had worked so hard for. But my kids and I decided to not dwell on what we lost but be grateful that we were all still alive. So we pushed forward, found a place to rent temporarily until we found something more permanent. In December of 2020 I was notified by my dad that his cancer was progressing fast and we were to say our goodbyes and spend as much time as possible, at this point he was in palative care so we knew the end was near. However we thought we had months, he passed away before Christmas just days before. With Covid on the go there was not much of a funeral but my brothers and I were pall bearers. After all this we spent months getting back on our feet, my bills were finally getting back to normal, work was picking up and we found a beautiful home to rent that is perfect size and set up for my kids and I. So we rented, we have moved into this house with only the beds for the 2 kids and a kitchen table that my landlord has sold me (still not paid for) so I’m thankful that my children have a bed and we don’t have to eat on the floor. We moved into this place November 1 2021. And after a long wait we were finally able to breathe. However in the middle of November my daughter developed a headache that would not go away, I took her to the hospital twice just for them to turn me home and tell me to just medicate at home like I was and it would go away because it was just a head cold. Well November 26th at 4:15 am my mom calls me to tell me that my daughter fainted twice while trying to have a drink and take Tylenol (she was at my moms because I was scheduled for work) I had my daughter at the hospital by 430 am. When the doctor finally came to see her at 8 am he did some tests, bloodwork checked her heart then told me it was likely a migraine and he wanted to send her for a CT scan in grande prairie so we left the valleyview hospital and drove to grande prairie for the scan. We got the scan, left and got called back for a second scan because they seen something but wanted to use a dye to make sure they could see clearly. The nurse did the scan and the. Told us that we needed to go to the emergency room and have a consult with the doctor, at this point we are told it was a sinus infection, so we get to the doctor and he medicated her with IV right away then tells us the pediatrician will be down to talk to me. When the pediatrician showed up he told us that she has an abscess on her brain and they need to fly her to Edmonton for emergency surgery. They flew her out and I drove there to meet her. Now we are at the stollery childrens hospital and we are being told that surgery can happen anywhere between midnight and noon. They came in at 7am to go through the surgery and get papers signed for consent. They explained that it was a 2 part surgery, one part the neurologist were going to shave her head and access her brain through pulling the forehead bone out. Then the second part was the nose and throat doctor and he was going to go in with tubes and clear out her sinuses. They allowed me to be with her while they put her to sleep and then it came wait time. After 7 hours she was finally back to her room, partially awake but not totally. The next few days we endured a lot of swelling in the face to the point where my daughter could barely see out her eyes. So for two days we didn’t do much but lay there and talk a little. On December 2nd they put her in surgery for a PICC line insertion because for the next 6-8 weeks she would be on IV medication and the PICC line would make it so that she didn’t have to deal with needles every other day. December 3rd we were told we could leave the hospital but asked to stay close until the staples came out of her head, so we stayed close and I was taught how to administer her IV meds so that we didn’t have to go back and forth to the hospital 2 times a day. So there we were staying in the area and doing everything that my daughter and I could to make sure we got through it without a problem, I was fortunate enough to have 2 aunties and a boss and fellow coworkers that helped us to get through the week in Edmonton area. December 9th we had the staples taken out and we were on our way home back to valleyview. my daughter still needs IV meds until January 10th. And valleyview does not offer the same homecare program so we have to go back and forth to the hospital for the infusion. With still limited abilities to work because my daughter needs to be cared for properly I have found myself struggling to make any payments on bills, don’t get to fully go back to work until the middle of January when my daughter is cleared to be back to normal every day tasks.
A lot of my friends know that I work in the oilfield but due to recent events I have had to take some time off and will need to limit myself work wise for the next month or so as my daughter goes through her recovery from surgery. I am looking for help to pay our bills, get insurance and registration back on my vehicle so I can take her back to the specialist in Edmonton in January and be able to drive to and from the hospital , I would use money to provide food for my kids and to be able to pay the medical bills that are coming in quickly. It would help me pay my rent that is going to be due before I can get a pay cheque.
in advance I would like to extend a huge thank you to anyone and everyone that donates or even provides prayers and good thoughts to my family at this time. Everyone goes through hard times in life and sometimes we all just need a little help so just know that every bit of your help is beyond appreciated and it will be payed forward somehow, someway and to someone it will be payed forward!!
