Help Dr.Saber and Family Escape the Crisis in Gaza

Greetings, everyone! My name is Saber Alasmar, and I work as an ICU doctor at Nasser Medical Complex in Khanyounis ,southern of Gaza Strip. I want to share with you the immense challenges my family and I face as we strive to raise funds for our evacuation to Egypt in order to ensure our safety and survival.

Our deepest desire is to lead a simple life free from the constant threats and dangers posed by the surrounding conflict. Unfortunately, we have also received alarming warnings of a possible invasion in Rafah where my family resides now, adding to our concerns.

Until recently, I lived a normal life with my family, enjoying the comforts of home and the happiness that comes with it. As a doctor, I dedicated myself to helping others. However, everything changed on October 7th, 2023.

Since that day, I have spent months working tirelessly at the hospital, often working 24-hour shifts. I have been separated from my family, who have been forcibly displaced multiple times due to relentless bombardment and the dire circumstances we find ourselves in. Communication has been sporadic at best, as network disconnections have become a common occurrence. We are living in inhumane conditions without access to electricity, water, and an adequate food supply.

Being an ICU doctor during times of war is an unimaginably arduous and draining experience. We are confronted with the daunting task of caring for a large number of injured patients, many of whom are innocent children and women. Their injuries, such as severe burns, crushed limbs, organ damage, and life-threatening hemorrhages, are heart-wrenching. Sadly, our medical facilities are ill-equipped and lack essential medications, equipment, and sufficient critical care beds. Despite these overwhelming challenges, we refuse to give up. We continue to provide healthcare to those in need, even as our own safety is compromised. Eventually, we were left with no choice but to evacuate the hospital due to ongoing dangers surrounding our hospital.

Our current focus is on raising funds to evacuate my family through the Rafah/Egypt crossing. The cost per adult is $7000 through egyption travel agencies , taking into account the needs of my parents, brother, and sister, making a total of five family members.

My goal is not only help my family cross the border but also to provide them with the means to sustain themselves once we are out of harm’s way. The funds raised will go towards covering our immediate needs, including food, shelter, and medical care.
