Help a family with 3 kids leave Gaza

Hi, my name is Jessica Walton (you can look me up on twitter @jesshealywalton). I'm a writer and teacher living in Naarm, Australia. I'm fundraising to help my friend (a writer and teacher like me), and her family leave Gaza to get to safety. Sadly, my friend has already lost some of her family to the genocide in Gaza (including her beloved sister) so it is urgent that they leave now.

This is a message from my friend's husband, Ahmed, in English then Arabic:

"Dear compassionate community, help save my three little angels.

My name is Ahmed Al-Moghrabi, a father of of three precious angels: Jumana (9 years old), Lama (8 years old) and Yamen (3 years old). My children, just like myself, were born and raised in Gaza, and have never travelled before or known anything other than life under siege since their first breath.

I've always had a deep connection to this land, and in spite of the hard challenges we face living under occupation and constant fear of the unknown, we managed to live a decent life working passionately and caring for our loved ones. We were able to adapt to everything that was simple and painful in it, despite the siege and wars. I kept dreaming it would be the city where my children would grow up.

Today, with the ongoing war of genocide, my heart breaks with every news of new child martyrs. I don't' want to lose my children now, and i can't protect them from death! I don't want my children to lose me or my wife, and grow up without a father or a mother!

In this war, I lost my job and the project that I thought would secure the future for me and my children, a wholesale clothing store. Our family home was damaged to the point that it is no longer fit to live in, unfortunately. Therefore, I am asking for your help so that I can evacuate my family to Egypt. I need to pay the necessary costs to leave Gaza to a safer place.

Cost breakdown:

The money will be used to get my family out safely to Egypt. Currently, Egypt requires Palestinians to pay around 5000 USD for each person to be able to cross the border. The money will be used to get my family and I safely into Egypt and help us secure the costs for a temporary period until the war on Gaza ends.

I appeal to you and your kindness to spread this campaign to bring back hope and life for me and my family. We are seeking this road as we feel like we've run out of options and alternatives. We are hopeful still, that we will be able to save my children and bring them to safety."

أنا أحب غزة، كما كل الناس في هذا العالم يحبون مدنهم التي قضوا فيها معظم حياتهم. استطعت التأقلم على كل ما هو بسيط ومؤلم فيها، رغم الحصار والحروب. وظللت أحلم أنها ستكون المدينة التي سيكبر فيها أطفالي.

أما اليوم ومع حرب الإبادة الحاصلة فيها، فأن قلبي يتمزق مع كل خبر لشهداء جدد من الأطفال. لا أريد أن أفقد أطفالي الآن، ولا أستطيع حمايتهم من الموت! ولا أريد لأطفالي أن يفقدونني وأن يكبروا بلا أب أو أم!

في هذه الحرب خسرت عملي وخسرت المشروع الذي ظننت أنه سيؤمن مستقبلي أنا وأطفالي "متجر لبيع الملابس بالجملة"، وتضرر منزلي بحيث لم يعد يصلح للعيش للأسف.

لذلك أطلب المساعدة منكم لأستطيع السفر ودفع التكاليف اللازمة للخروج من غزة لمكان أكثر أمناً، وتكاليف العيش لفترة مؤقتة حتى تنتهي الحرب على غزة.

دعمكم يعني منح أطفالي الفرصة للحياة بأمان."

From Jess: the money we are asking for equals about $27,500 in US dollars, and will be used to help them leave Gaza, pay gofundme fees, and cover any fees involved in transferring the money. Anything leftover will be used to help them set up safely in Egypt. I will post updates to let you know how the family are doing, and screenshot transfers so you know the money is getting to them.
