Help a Father and Daughter with Cancer

Donation protected
Sophia Linenberger of Hays, Kansas is the daughter of Stan and Jenny Linenberger and sister to FHSU student, Holly Linenberger, was diagnosed on January 11th, 2019 with Ewings Sarcoma Cancer, which is an extremely rare cancer with fewer than 1,000 cases per year.

My sister, Sophia was 15 years old when she was diagnosed and lost her ability to walk within 5 days. She had a tumor removed off of her spine at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She has had two surgeries and has endured eight and a half months of chemotherapy at Children's Mercy Hospital. She has also had numerous blood and platelet transfusions. Along with this, she has undergone six weeks of radiation, five days a week. All by traveling back and forth each week from Hays, KS to Kansas City, MO and back. As of November 2019, my sister, Sophia was cancer free and in remission! In the Spring of 2020, due to hard work, she gained back her ability to walk.

On Friday, August 14th 2020, Sophia had her 3rd cancer remission check up. She was in remission and free of cancer for 9 months. Unfortunately, my sister did not receive the check up results that she wanted to hear. She has had a relapse, and has a new tumor located near her spine. She had a biopsy, and found out that her Ewings Sarcoma Cancer has returned.

With this being said, Sophia has had to travel up with our mom for chemotherapy each week in Kansas City since August 2020. Due to her chemo not being effective, she also had to have 30 treatments of radiation in 15 days in January 2021. She now has to finish up her chemotherapy until August 2021. With this being in mind, Sophia and my mother will have to continue to travel up to KC each week for her treatments. Sophia remains as an active, full-time student in her High School, online. She is an Officer for FFA and an Officer in Key Club. She is a Student Council Representative and Class Co-Vice President. Sophia plans to attend a University after her High School graduation.

During my sister’s 2019 Cancer diagnosis, our Father was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. He was doing better by the end of 2019. Unfortunately, on Friday, February 19, 2021, our Father, Stan Linenberger was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer. His treatments and appointments will also take place in Kansas City at KU Medical and Cancer Center. He has to endure 7 months of harsh chemotherapy. Again, my mother will be traveling back and forth to Kansas City with him as well.

All things considered, I created this Go Fund Me to help my family. It hurts me to watch my family go through all of this, during this extremely hard time. I know my family and I would be so grateful for any donations to help pay for Medical and Chemotherapy Treatments, monthly bills, food, gas, overnight stays, etc. Due to all of the traveling, since Sophia’s original diagnosis in 2019, to Stan’s current diagnosis, my family is also really needing money for a new vehicle to continue to travel each week back and forth to Kansas City, which is a 4 hour drive from home for them. I want to thank each and every one of you in advance for your help. My family is my everything.

Thank you! - Holly Linenberger
