Help a Single Father Recover from a Stroke

On July 1, 2023, Bennie had a hemorrhagic stroke, an emergency condition in which a ruptured blood vessel causes bleeding inside the brain. The stroke has caused irreversible damage to the left side of his brain leading to aphasia and right sided paralysis. He is currently receiving inpatient rehab services which include speech, physical, and occupational therapy. However, once he is discharged, he will have to pay for rehab out of pocket. He currently has an application pending approval for Medicaid since he does not have insurance and can not work. He will be discharged on August 5th, and will need, at minimum, 9 hours of combined physical, occupational, and speech therapy to facilitate his continued recovery. Physical therapy alone is $75 per 15 minutes. With the support of family and friends we are working to raise money to help pay for his rehab. Anybody can be fine one day and then have a medical emergency and have their life change in an instant.
