Help A Fluffy Puppy Stay Healthy With Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Kate, and I'm raising money to cover my fluffy Pomeranian's surgery for a broken tooth.
Wait, surgery for a broken tooth? How much can that be? Why can't they just pull the tooth?
Pulling the tooth actually is the surgery. It's estimated to cost around $2,500, and that's actually fairly inexpensive for the procedure. Dogs have to be sedated for the surgery. Because he's young (5 on April 20th!) and healthy, he has significantly less risks and will cost around $2,500 as opposed to the normal $4-5,000.
If he doesn't have the surgery in the next 6 months, he risks getting an infection, which would could be very dangerous given the proximity to his brain. I plan on saving every dollar I can, but at best I'm breaking even every month while working one full-time job and three side gigs. The increasing cost of rent/groceries and the fact that my health insurance recently informed me they declined to cover pain medicine for a surgery I had myself in January has put a significant strain on my financial situation.
How did he break the tooth? Honestly, it's a mystery. Alyosha does not like to eat--he photosynthesizes. Kidding, but also, he really doesn't eat very much and much prefers to be cuddled than to be offered a treat, so how he broke it remains between the dog and God. However, changing his diet to softer foods will prevent further breaks.
He is a happy pomeranian who brings joy and love to my life, and who enjoys long walks, snuggling his (much larger than him) cat brother, and of course, making people smile.
If the surgery ends up miraculously costing less than the estimate, I plan to donate the money towards funds that help other pet owners facing vet costs, such as my friend Sarah's journey to help her kitty fight cancer.
