Help a forest defender get back on their feet
Donation protected
Atlanta, Georgia, is currently the site of an ongoing struggle. One of state repression, police militarization and ecocide vs all things beautiful. The City Of Atlanta has leased 381 acres of forest on stolen Muskogee land to the Atlanta Police Dependent. The APD plans on replacing this breathtaking ecosystem with what is essentially a military base for their war on the American people, complete with a replica town for practice suppressing protests, dubbed Cop City.
Long story short, a diverse and inspiring movement has grown in the last couple years around halting the destruction of the forest and the construction of this abomination.
This is where my partner Alex Meissner comes in. Alex is a non-binary 19 year old Madison, WI resident who loves the planet we all share and the community they’re a part of. Alex along with 22 others was arrested and charged with domestic terrorism as a result of being in the Welaunee forest on March 5th. They spent multiple weeks held in Dekalb County Jail but now, Alex’s innocence has been substantially proven and they are finally getting out on bond.
We’re asking for any donations that anyone can muster to try and get Alex back on their feet as they adjust to life after this traumatic series of events. We live together and I have a full time job. We can be back on solid ground soon enough, but their phone was stolen by the cops and bills will surely start to pile up. Right now they need the support and solidarity of their community to help them through.
Thank you all
Cop city will never be built!
