Help A Friend In Need: Moose Mongeau Heart Fund

On April 18th, a great friend to many, Chris “Moose” Mongeau, went with his wife Stacy to Cooley Dickinson Hospital to have his back looked at and to check out what was causing his shortness of breath. After an extensive work up, one of the blood tests that checks cardiac enzymes was through the roof.  With no hesitation he was admitted and an echocardiogram was scheduled for first thing the next morning. Not too long after, the doctor came in and said “we are transferring you to Baystate Medical”.  After arriving Moose was then sent directly to the cath lab where it was determined that he had a heart attack earlier in the week. At the same time they discovered blockages in major arteries of his heart. The cardiologist said the only treatment was bypass surgery. After speaking with the cardiac surgeon he determined that a quadruple bypass (later turning out to be a quintuple bypass) would be needed to save his life. Moose will be out of work for 4-6 weeks, possibly longer, bearing there are no complications. This was an unexpected event that no one can ever prepare for.  His wife Stacy will be graduating from nursing school in 2 weeks.  Needless to say their income will be greatly affected. Moose & Stacy also care for their 3 year old grandson. They have always stepped up to help others in need and have never asked for anything in return.  Moose’s bigger than life personality is one of the things that everyone loves! He has never aspired to be a wealthy man, but he has always found riches in working with kids and people with disabilities. From the time he started working, this has always been his calling. People have always enjoyed watching him perform with other amazing musicians throughout Western Mass. Unfortunately, that will be put on hold as he endures weeks, possibly months of recovery.  Moose & Stacy have always been there to help others and now they need our help so that they are able to keep their home and pay their bills as Moose recovers. Your donation will cover lost wages as well as additional medical and personal expenses. Every little bit will help this great friend, son, brother, uncle, stepfather, musician and ‘Pop-pop’.
