Help A Grieving Family Keep Their Health Insurance

Our dear friend Alyvia suddenly and tragically lost her husband, Dustin, the father of her three young children, on April 14. To make an unimaginably bad situation worse, Alyvia and her kids, Henry, Amelie, and Theodore, are about to lose their health insurance, which was through Dustin's job, unless she purchases a COBRA coverage extension.

Alyvia, a dedicated nurse, begins a new job in August that will offer health insurance, but until then, she needs help to get through these next few difficult months.

As many of you know, COBRA coverage is expensive - $2,000/month for her family. And health insurance is absolutely essential for Alyvia, who has Type 1 Diabetes, and her children, one of whom has autism.

We can make this happen for $6,000. I'm hoping to raise $8,000 in case there's any lag time with the new job. But each $2,000 buys Alyvia and her kids another month of continuity, security, and peace of mind.

Alyvia is and always has been full of grace, strength, intelligence and humor. She's a kind and hilarious friend, a devoted wife and mother, and an accomplished nurse. Her entire life is about caring for other people - but now she needs other people to care for her. Henry, Amelie, and Theodore are grieving. She's processing her own overwhelming grief while trying to care for and comfort them through the loss of their father, and sorting through an onslaught of paperwork and complicated decisions. 

She should not have to think twice right now about getting the healthcare she needs.
