A man who found true happiness and joy in giving his time and efforts to those in need! He lost his battle to cancer rather quickly and this donation page has unfortunately became not only medical expenses, but also funeral expenses.
This is my dad. Wade Gayler! If you know him, you've most certainly heard him say "living the dream" or "just another day in paradise!" I never truly understood why he said it so much but now that I'm older I realize every day for him was a gift from God. He's lived a great life, with lots of ups, and lots of downs! He turned all of the down days he had as a younger man into positivity by helping those who needed help the most! A lot of you don't know this but he spent some time in federal prison due to his drug addictions as a young troubled man. Well when he got home from prison he had a strong faith in God and he used his faith to help those in need! He started volunteering his craftsmanship and carpentry skills to help others through the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief organization. He quickly became a leader for the organization and it flourished. He traveled the world to help people rebuild their homes, schools, small towns after a major disaster! He went to Thailand, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Samoa, and many more! Let's not forget his domestic work also with Hurricane Katrina and many other natural disasters in the South East! After he left the SBDR foundation he got a job with the Red Cross! He was the Idaho State Disaster Relief Coordinator! One of his accomplishments was being the main coordinator for the Red Cross feeding units for New Yorks Hurricane Sandy disaster and actually organized over 7 MILLION MEALS to those in need! He also played a major role in the Red Cross wildfire relief services and helped with many of the Western US wild fires!
Well, this great man who's helped so many people throughout his life is now in need of our help! We found out about 3 months ago that he has stage 3 Renal Kidney Cancer, at the young age of 58. Unfortunately it's turned out to be an aggressive form of cancer and the treatments have not faired well for him. He had surgery to remove the mass and blood clotting but they opened him up and then aborted the surgery because the mass was too big to remove. He and I spent 6 days in the hospital together, tough days for sure. He did not have insurance at the time and it's an expensive operation! Soon after he started chemo therapy and the medicine was too hard on his liver and now his liver is failing and the blood clots have moved throughout his organs. He went into the ER this last week and they decided to emergency life flight him to the Huntsman Cancer Institute where we are now.
If you know my dad you know he was larger than life and sometimes loud and obnoxious! Well let's show him the support he deserves and be loud about paying it forward!
Please donate if you can to show a great man what a great support network he has! If you can't donate than please share his story and add a few of your own words of kindness for a great man.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
With Love, Norm Jr.
