Help a Mother of Two Fight Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hi friends,
Its hard to know where to start, but this week our world has turned upside down. I never thought as a mother of two small children and an oncology nurse that I would be 1 in 6 women with breast cancer. In the past few months as I finished my breastfeeding journey with Linnea, I noticed a lump, which wasn't unusual for me considering I would frequently experience clogged ducts while breastfeeding. After completely stopping with breastfeeding mid February, I noticed it was still there but wanted to allow some time for the "clogged duct" to go away on its on. After icing and taking advil to relieve some discomfort and inflammation, I noticed after two weeks it wasn't budging like it normally would for a "clogged duct." As an oncology nurse, I've heard similar stories but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I mentioned my lump to my dear friend and Oncologist, Dr. Maira Campos at work in passing and she immediately ordered me a mammogram and ultrasound. Fast forward two weeks after that conversation and I heard the words I never thought I would hear at 35 years old. "Its cancer, we have to move quickly and biopsy you today." I was alone at this routine appointment, it was suppose to just be a clogged duct turned cyst. It was suppose to be drained, thats it. I have two very small children, Jonas 2 and Linnea 1 that need me. I have so much more I want to do, see, and learn. Little by little we are getting information to start my treatment. Because I am going to be brave. I am going to fight. Please keep me and my family in your thoughts. Its so hard to ask for help when you're so used to being the helper. This go fund me will cover unexpected medical costs, child care, meals and anything else to help support us through the next few months. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Love you friends.
