Help a Native Parent & Child rebuild their lives

Donation protected
Hello all!

Please consider contributing some funds to one of our beloved community members, Ixchel.

Ixchel is a Native, Two Spirit parent, community member and community organizer. Ixchel and their child were recently forcibly displaced from their home and are now in the process of rebuilding their lives in North Texas.

Ixchel has been receiving some mutual aid from their beloved community supporters in North Texas, but their situation has recently developed in a manner that is requiring Ixchel to raise funds to hire a lawyer to provide assistance in acquiring Ixchel and their child’s belongings from the abusive household that they escaped from.

For context, please read Ixchel’s original statement released on December 18th:

“Kuira hello all I’m a Native Two Spirit parent reaching out for community aid and support. Me and my child have recently been displaced from our home and have lost everything from clothes, Christmas gifts for my daughter and everything else we had. This also includes our traditional sacred alters and medicine and medicine plants. We are currently in safe housing but still have little to nothing. I’ve been able to buy what I can but do require community aid while we get through this time. Please feel free to DM with any questions and please share this post. Nimitz so much love to community and everyone. Thank you.

Ixchel then released an update on their situation on January 9th:

Hello community I’m reaching out for help again. I was able to be given the option to pick up me and my daughters belongings but need to get it judge approved which will cost 195$. I also need some help moving my things. Law enforcement said they will have to be present to make sure the abuser doesn’t get violent. I need help getting a Uhaul, paying for the judge warrant and also packing up our things. I’d like to have our stuff gathered this week. Please share and boost Thank you and love to everyone who’s been with us.”

When Ixchel and their friends attempted to retrieve their belongings that week, they found out that the locks to the house’s doors were changed and their mother stated that their belongings had been thrown away. The court system provided little to no support, so now Ixchel is in need of hiring an attorney to provide legal assistance in retrieving their belongings, and also financial assistance to rebuild their lives in their new housing situation.

Any amount helps, if you can’t donate, please consider sharing. Thank you all.

In solidarity.

Update from Ixchel, 1.24.23:
Thank you to everyone who’s shared, donated, and sent well wishes. Me and my little one can not thank you enough.

Big shout out to @jonathangdfw for putting together this GoFundMe for us as we still continue to go through houston stability and also saving up for legal fees. Please keep sharing and boosting. It’s always extremely difficult for me to ask for community aid but I ask for my little one most of all that community please help us in these times. Thank you.

Update from Ixchel and Jonathan, 2.22.23:

As different factors develop in Ixchel’s efforts to rebuild their families’ life in Dallas, TX, Ixchel has decided to place all of their focus on fundraising towards stable housing for them and their child. We have lowered the Go Fund Me goal to concentrate on this focus and are hoping to have their needs met by the end of March. Any contributions help!
