Hello, my name is Haytham Al-Ghamri, a 22-year-old Palestinian medical student from Gaza. I am currently studying medicine in Egypt and have successfully completed four years of my education.
Due to the ongoing conflict and the devastating impact on my family, I now face overwhelming financial difficulties that jeopardize my ability to continue my studies.
My family was forcibly displaced from our home in Khan Yunis, Gaza, on December 2nd. We lost our house in Al-Qarara, along with our livelihood. Tragically, on July 2nd, my eldest brother’s entire family—his wife and two daughters—were killed when their home was bombed.
This is how our family home looks like...
My family now lives in a tent in the Al-Mawasi area, struggling to survive without access to even the most basic necessities. The grief of losing loved ones and the trauma of displacement have made this an incredibly difficult time for us all. My family cannot financially support me as they once did, and I am unable to pay for my education or accommodation.
Despite these hardships, I remain determined to achieve my dream of becoming the first doctor in my family. I want to make a difference not only for my family but for the many people in need of medical care in Gaza. However, I cannot do this alone—I need your help.
I am raising funds to cover my university fees for the remaining years of my studies, as well as my accommodation expenses:
- $3,000 for the 2023/2024 academic year
- $3,000 for the 2024/2025 academic year
- $200 per month for accommodation
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a big difference in my life and in the lives of my family members who are counting on me. It was a dream especially of my mother that I could become a doctor.
Your support will not only help me complete my education but also bring hope to a family enduring unimaginable hardship.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. I will be forever grateful for your support during this challenging time.
